Sarasota, Florida, is a Playground for the Old and Wealthy

Posted: 18 May 2010 05:33 AM PDT

I went to Sarasota, Florida, for a few days last week. The town has a beautiful bay, a great sculpture park, blue-green water, lots of wildlife, like bald eagles, egrets, great blue herons, vultures, alligators, and deer. Here are a few pics (the plate of food is fried alligator).

I had never been in what is basically an entire town that serves as a retirement community. Sarasota is a pretty affluent place populated by senior citizens with lots of turquoise jewelry, plastic surgery, and outfits manufactured in ungodly colors. It was culture shock for me.

How Not To Eat Fish

Just think of fish as “sea kittens.”

sea kittens: An attempt by PETA to convince the general public to call fish by a name too cute to eat.

another great new term from Urban Dictionary
