My Friends in Japan: The Search for Passports Posted: 17 Mar 2011 06:34 AM PDT Here is what my friend in Japan wrote to me yesterday: Our friend from the anti-nuclear movement, who stays in Fukushima for some reasons, broke the window of our apartment room (where you had stayed) and got in to find S.’s computer and passports, but the inside of the room was so messy and could not find them. He found our two cats safe and let them go. He will try to find our passports again. However, there is still no way to send mails or parcels out of Fukushima so far. A very resourceful move, to have their friend break in. But, alas, no passports. And I must say, the part about letting their pets go really got to me.
