Space Shuttle Discovery

Space Shuttle Discovery

Way back in the early nineties, I had occasion to be in Orlando, Fla for some Computer Consulting work for a branch of the company with which I had formerly been employed as their computer guy.

While there, I saw one of the most fantastic sites I could ever want to see as an admitted Space Geek… The Space Shuttle blasting off into space. I don’t remember which shuttle it was, nor do I know what their mission was at the time, but I will never forget the sight of the Shuttle lifting off and the trail of the trajectory fading off into the edges of the atmosphere.

That being said, I wanted to share a video I found on the Internet of the Space Shuttle Discovery taking off on it’s final mission to the International Space Station as seen from an airplane flying over Florida at the time of liftoff.

This is almost as cool as seeing it Live way back when…

If you have ever seen one of the Space Shuttles (or any Space Rocket for that matter) blasting off into space, please share your story about the experience in the comments. I know I would love to hear about it and I’m sure all the readers would too.

For those reading the RSS feed or though an e-mail subscription, please click here to view the video.
