We Did a Good Deed on the First Day of the Year Posted: 03 Jan 2011 12:08 PM PST I was walking my dog in my Jamaica Plain neighborhood early on January 1 in a field at a nearby elementary school. I saw a black object sitting on top of a snow bank. I picked it up. It was a smartphone. I pushed all the buttons but I couldn’t get it to open up. So I took it home and thought, “How will I find its owner?” I put an ad in Craig’s List’s lost and found section. Then I told my housemate about the phone and she has the same model, so she knew what buttons to push, and since the owner did not have it locked, we were able to see the owner’s contacts. My housemate knew to look for Mom and Dad, and sure enough, Mom was in there. She called Mom and told her that we had her daughter’s phone and we got it returned to the owner in a few minutes. |
