Do You Treat Your Partner/Spouse Like a Dog? You Should.

An intriguing column from the New York Times is circulating on the web right now about how human relationships could be improved if we treated our partners/spouses the same way we treat our pets. Here is an excerpt:

Do you greet each other with excitement, overlook each other's flaws and easily forgive bad behavior? If it's your pet, the answer is probably yes. But your spouse? Probably not…Even on bad days, we greet our pets with a happy, animated hello, and usually a pat on the head or a hug.

As some of the commenters said, relationships with people tend to be much more complex than those we have with cats and dogs. It’s not possible to be endlessly cheery with a partner/spouse. Read What Pets Can Teach Us About Marriage, then opine here.
