| They Should Give a Reward for the Best Idea to Plug the Oil Leak Posted: 01 Jun 2010 10:51 AM PDT Remember when Netflix was trying to improve the algorithm for its movie suggestions? They offered a $1 million reward. So far, the schemes that BP has come up with to plug the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico seem absurd to me, but I’m no engineer. Still, the ideas strike me as stuff a little kid would come up with (“Hey, let’s shoot all our old junk into that hole and see what happens!”). So what if a gigantic reward were offered to anyone who could come up with a solution to the oil spill? |
