Overview: "The oldest baby boomers have been demanding (and getting) attention for 60 years or more. The youngest boomers have won attention in part by scornfully differentiating themselves from their boomer elders. But what about the "middle boomers"? Noting that, like the stereotypical middle child, they've suffered a degree of neglect, a recently released survey from the MetLife Mature Market Institute sets out to remedy this deficiency by examining the characteristics of those who now are age 52 to 58 -- a cohort that numbers some 29 million in this country and stands at the peak of its earning power."
