Posted: 15 Apr 2010 04:11 AM PDT Last week, Miri Rossitto did a guest post about Baby Boomers and Funeral Planning. It got me to thinking about my own way of being disposed of when the great silence finally overtakes me. ![]() Viking Funeral by sandyman47 I had always planned on a Viking Funeral. You know, when they put your body in a boat, set it afire with burning arrows and set you adrift into the sunset on the way to Valhalla! Ok, so I’m not a Viking and certainly never ransacked a village. Hell, I wasn’t even in the Navy. But, I remember when I was growing up that my grandfather, father and I would go out on grandpop’s little boat and fish all day off the Jersey shore. I loved it so much that I continued it with my father, son and myself until my father died. Hopefully, we can continue the tradition if I ever have a grandson. Anyway, back on track. That is the main reason, if not the only one that I want to have a Viking funeral. I told my significant other long ago that this is the way I want to be sent off. I even gave her some ideas on how it should be done if at all possible, however, there is still really no plan for implementation. There is still really no plan to speak of, but this is a beginning of a plan on how I want to be launched into the great beyond.
How’s that sound? Sounds like it could be a fun way to be sent off by family and friends into the great unknown. What do you think? Sound cool? What type of plans have you made to celebrate your life when you finally leave this earth?
