Who is Surprised About Herman Cain? Posted: 08 Nov 2011 07:03 AM PST I’m not. Men in power who abuse women are a dime a dozen in our culture. Since I’m not a Republican, I never would have voted for Herman Cain anyway, but I don’t want anyone in office who tries to overtake women with pathetic, desperate, rude gestures. How out of touch does a guy have to be not to realize that this kind of thing can be traumatizing to the victim? As for those who think the women who are coming forward are lying, what sane woman would voluntarily put herself in a position like this, knowing that the haters in our society would come out in droves? The fact that Herman Cain will have a press conference today in which he will say "there is no record, nor even a complaint filed" on the alleged incident is a red herring. MOST sexual harassment goes on without interruption because the male knows the woman won’t ever report it. Her job, after all, is almost always on the line! Here is a great reader comment from the New York Times: “This woman is very brave to come forward, and I hope she won’t have to regret it. Let’s face it, it’s the women victims who are usually the subjects of “high-tech lynchings” in these situations.”
