The media carry stories about unemployment claims dropping, but neglect to inform us that many people have dropped out of the job-seekers ranks. The recent home-buyer’s tax credit resulted in increased sales — but only for a very brief time. Then they dropped back down. Realtors claim it’s a great time to buy, but with home sellers in many U.S. markets competing with foreclosures, short sales, and, eventually, the huge shadow inventory, home prices have just one place to go. |
