Monday Musings for Baby Boomers – If My Body Were a Car

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 03:49 AM PDT

Smile!

Smile!

Monday has always been a little bit of a let down, what with it being the beginning of the work week and all.

So to start things out on a bright note for the week, I bring you the…

Baby Boomers Monday Musings.

If My Body Were a Car

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.

I’ve got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that’s not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus and it’s especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed.

My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here’s the worst of it — almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter…..either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!

Hope that put a little smile on your face and Keep On Smilin’

5 Vitamins That Help With Pain

Everyone has jumped on the multi-vitamin train, but do the all-in-one-pills really give you everything you need? What about joint pain? Back pain? Is there some vitamin or mineral that is missing from your diet that could help with that? From my experience, multi-vitamins are a good start, but they aren't the be all and end all of the vitamin world. Here are five vitamins and minerals that might help your pain problems.

  1. Dolomite for back pain – A type of calcium, these pills are a natural source of magnesium also. The strange and wonderful thing about Dolomite is that it helps back pain. Now, I've slipped a disk or two in my time, and I know what it's like to feel real back pain. I tried all the pain meds and anti-inflammatories, and they did practically nothing. Then I started taking Dolomite. A couple pills a day, and a month later the pain was gone. Just gone.
  2. Dolomite for nerve pain – I know I've already told you about Dolomite for back pain, but it works wonders for nerve pain also. Have you ever aggravated your sciatic nerve? You know; the big one that runs down from your back into your leg? If you have, you know what nerve pain is. Dolomite relieves that pain. It works great for pinched nerves in your neck and shoulder also.
  3. Vitamin C for the immune system – It's so common, you might just miss it. Vitamin C is a wonder drug. You can't overdose on it, and it works with your body to fight off infection. What does this have to do with pain? If you've ever had the flu, you know how sickness can make your body ache everywhere. Sometimes you don't even know when you have an infection. Take vitamin C and fight it off before it grows out of control.
  4. Cranberry juice for kidney, liver, and bladder pain –I know; cranberry juice is not a vitamin. But it does work. Get the whole fruit kind, and look on the back to make sure it is not mostly grape juice. Drink a couple glasses a day and your pain will fade away. Urinary tract infections are very common, and painful, but regular cranberry juice cleanses will help to prevent them.
  5. Chondroitin and glucosamine for joint pain –There are many different names for joint supplements, but these two ingredients are what to look for. They work with your body to allow joints to move freely, without pain. Great for people with arthritis; the dosages may vary depending on the manufacturer, so follow their directions.

Vitamins are not miracle drugs. They can't cure everything. But treating the underlying cause of your pain is the first step to getting rid of it permanently. Try some of these today, and give it a little time. You might be surprised by the results.
