This Weeks Good Reads-Week One Hundred forty-seven

coffee cupEvery week I come across an article or two that I find very helpful to me as a Baby Boomer and think may be of some interest to you, the community, as well.

They may be from an online news source, another Blog or Website or something I found surfing around the Internet. They could even be something that was sent in by a reader of the Blog or a member of the Baby Boomer’s Forum.

Enjoy!

5 Ways the Media Tries to Scare Retirees by Tom Sightings… We’ve all heard the media reports that Social Security is going broke and we will go bankrupt if we get sick. Things that are stated as fact in the media are half-truths at best. Take everything with a grain of salt.

Why Baby Boomers are the innovators of the future by Dominic Basulto… This, at least, sound like encouraging news. It seems that some of the headlines about Baby Boomer entrepreneurs is more than just hype, we are the next big thing in the economic, cultural and political debates for a new future.

I  hope you found this weeks choice(s) helpful and enjoyable. What did you think? Do you have any suggestions for next week?

What would have happened today if the Supreme Court was the all-male institution it has been for most of its centuries-long history? Would health care have taken a huge step forward in this country? It’s no accident that this vote went the way it did. Although I could not explain all the intricacies of this [...]

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 08:40 AM PDT

Why should you listen to a man named Thomas Fowler on the dangers of fracking? Because he wrote to the nonprofit organization Food and Water Watch and said: “I am a former roughneck and drilling engineer for Chevron. These chemicals will end up in our drinking water guaranteed.” A brief definition of fracking (from 350.org): [...]
