Monday Musings for Baby Boomers – What Year Is It? Posted: 02 Jan 2012 03:00 AM PST ![]() Smile! Monday has always been a little bit of a let down, what with it being the beginning of the work week and all. So to start things out on a bright note for the week, I bring you the… Baby Boomers Monday Musings. What Year Is It? I don’t know about you, and I don’t want to sound like a complainer, but I have a pet peeve I wanted to share with you guys. What terminology do you use for this year? I hear two different terms all the time and one bothers me WAY too much and I personally think that My Way is the right way. Is this the year Two Thousand-Twelve or is it Twenty-Twelve??? In all the new car ads (and all the other products) you see on TV or hear on the radio, some of the announcers use Two Thousand-Twelve and a very few use Twenty-Twelve. Some of the hosts on the morning shows, even some people at night like Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, must get confused because they use the terms interchangebly. I even heard one host use Two Thousand-eleven and Twenty-Twelve in the same sentence. I, personally, agree with Charles Osgood of CBS’ Sunday Morning. It is the year Twenty-Twelve… Period. As a matter of fact, he has (and I have) been using the Twenty-First Century term since at least 2001 or Twenty -O- One. I already know MY answer, but What SayYou?
